Job Summary

The RN/Director of Patient Flow in Nursing Operations is a member of the Nursing Administration leadership team reporting to the Executive Director of Nursing Operations.  Position is responsible for the operations of the Central staffing office, house-wide patient placement process, management of the house wide Clinical resource team( Float Pool), patient sitter services, deaf interpreter services and the housewide transportation department.  Excellent role for a Registered Nurse with interest and experience in staffing and acuity software, patient flow tracking operations.  This role collaboratively develops, implements, coordinates, and evaluates the patient placement process to ensure the timely and efficient placement of patients 24 hours a day in the appropriate setting based on patient acuity, care needs and staff competency.   Effective communication is required with Physicians, Nurse Managers, and all members of the healthcare team for timely patient placement and transfers to appropriate nursing units.


Minimum:  Bachelor of Science in Nursing   

Preferred:  Master's degree in Nursing and Certification in Nursing Administration

May consider Master's degree in other field with directly related experience.


Minimum:  Five years leadership/management experience to include understanding of staffing patterns, strong analytical skills, effective communication and negotiation skills with diverse groups, excellent interpersonal skills, process improvement, understanding of technology and change agent required.

Strong clinical background in critical care, trauma, and/or acute hospital nursing required.  

Ability to serve as an advocate for a variety of interdependent groups required.
