Unit Description: The Women's Pavilion Family Care Unit is a 100 bed (50 mothers and 50 babies) patient care unit providing family-centered maternity care to postpartum mothers, normal newborns and families. It is a resort-like setting and is attached to the region's only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Nursery.
Each shift utilizes a Unit Coordinator who oversees operations. The UC assesses patient and staff needs and works collaboratively with the other nursing staff.
All staff must meet the requirements outlined in their job description. Licensed staff maintains an up-to-date Florida nursing license, Neonatal Resuscitation Provider Certification and complete the required continuing education required for license renewal. Assumes direct and indirect responsibility for the patient's care environment. The primary responsibility is providing care through collaboration with health care team members and the autonomous application of the nursing process. Also provides leadership, mentoring and role modeling for other members of the health care team.
