Unit Description: Outpatient Surgical is a dynamic fast-paced unit that cares for patients scheduled for surgery in the main operating room and special radiological procedures. This unit also provides care for patients requiring blood transfusions and IV antibiotics. The OPSU / Central Registration (Nursing) staff are a dedicated group who prepare the patients and their families pre-operatively for their hospital experience, as well as their discharge and care at home. The unit performs all of the procedure preparations for a.m. admits, outpatients (done in the main OR) and 23-hour observation patients. The unit is also a second stage recovery area. Job Description: Assist patients in carrying out activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, ambulating, toileting, etc.). Responsible for patient safety and implementing preventive skin care measures. Document I&O, V/S, etc. Functions under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and/or Licensed Practical Nurse. Education: High School Diploma/GED and Nurse Tech/CNA Course required. May substitute directly related experience for required education on a 1:1 basis. Experience: Needs excellent phlebotomy skills and a willingness to learn EKG. 1 year of patient care experience preferred. Hiring Range: $8.35 - $10.02 per hour Acceptance of a Patient Care Assistant position requires the completion of mandatory hospital Orientation for a full week, Monday-Friday 8a-5p. |
